Disney Trip: day 2

Day 2: Our first Day at Disneyland, and it was awesome. Paul and I got the kids excited but it didn't take long for us to feel the magic too. We had a great day as a family and tok it at the kids' pace.
-Immediately upon entering we saw a lot of the characters right by Main Street. We figured the kids would be excited to see characters, and they were. Neither of them were afraid of them, although Nolan liked the animal ones better than the people ones. It didn't take long at all for Caitlin to feel completely comfortable with them and chat and give hugs and blow kisses. In fact after a few days I felt like she totally wasn't even phased by seeing the characters, like "oh yah there's Mickey, hey Mickey whats up?" I felt like we were able to get a ton of time and interaction with characters throughout the trip and that made it really fun. When Caitlin met Donald she gave him a hug and then as she was pulling back she looked up and said "Wow! You have a big mouth!"

-The first thing we did inside the park was head over to see the princesses at the Princess Faire village. They had a special wing off the castle where you could go meet Aurora, Ariel and Cinderella. Obviously this was a must-do for us. The princesses were all so cute with the kids and said the cutest things to get them to talk and open up. Caitlin loved pointing to them on her shirt and telling them her name and how old she was and commenting on their outfits as well. She was a little confused by Ariel because she didn't recognize her without her mermaid tail. She thought she was Giselle from the movie "Enchanted" (another favorite at our house) so when she turned the corner to see her she yelled "Mom! it's chanted!" haha oops. Ariel was of course very nice still and explained that her daddy gave her feet today to come everyone. Caitlin was like ok, whatever, "bye chanted". Later on when we saw Tiana she commented on the princesses on her shirt and she said "oh sorry, I no have Tiana on my shirt"and Tiana responded "oh well that's ok sugar" She also told Minnie "I love your dress!" She was cracking me up with what she came up with to say to them (especially the ones not talking!)

-Cinderella was the favored princess. Caitlin LOVES Cinderella and had do been looking forward to meeting her. She wanted to just tell her everything and she also told her "oh, your dress is so beautiful"

-After that we met Tinkerbell in Pixie Hollow and Caitlin still talks about her shoes and her wings.

-We went of lots of rides. Caitlin was surprisingly patient about waiting in line to go on rides, and we never had to wait more than 25 minutes. Some of them she thought were "kinda scary" but others she really liked, like the teacups and Winnie the Pooh and the Casey Jr. train. both kids favorite ride was probably the Jungle cruise. Nolan loved being able to move around a little and look at things. It actually got a reaction out of him. On the other rides he was pretty much stone faced, just taking it all in. He's very consistent, but as always just along for the ride and up for anything like the good little boy he is.

-We treated ourselves to churros, Dole whips, cotton candy and the like.

-By the evening we were all getting tired. We decided to stay for the parade then make a break. It's a good thing we stayed because the parade was for sure one of the biggest highlights of the trip for Caitlin and by extension us. We ended up watching it every day we were there, sometimes multiple times. She was busting out dance moves we had never seen before (and believe me we've seen a lot) and gave a personal wave and kiss to each passerby. She got so excited to see each character come out and pass by and was waving and yelling at the top of her lungs. It was hilarious, and my description does not even do it justice. (Also notice Nolan mesmerized but expressionless in the corner of the pics)

-That evening we grabbed dinner and made our way back to the hotel and put our very tired kids to bed.
