"Class of '57" Murder Mystery Party

On Friday night, Melissa and I hosted a Murder Mystery Party for a bunch of our friends. It was 1950's themed and we got the idea from Paul's younger sister who threw one. So everyone dressed up and each person got a "character" that they had to act like for the whole night. Everyone was trying to solve a murder and along the way there was bribery, negotiating, and more murders. Everyone was such a good sports and actually dressed up and got really into it so it made everything more exciting. Kudos to Melissa for winning "Best Costume" and to Tiffany for winning "Best actress"!

Where are you springtime?

I'm so mad at the weather right now. I completely have spring fever but i'm tired of getting my hopes up whenever i see the sun peeking out. I can'tquite bring myself to break out the flip flops just yet. Especially when we've gone from driving in a blizzard Thursday morning, to the boys playing football with their shirts off and laying in the sun yesterday, to waking up to snow this morning. Enough is enough! stop teasing me weather!

Friday night we went on a really fun group date. We grilled hamburgers at our house then went up to Brandon Cochran's family cabin in Sundance. It was an INCREDIBLE house!! It was so beautiful right at the top of Sundance. We played golf in their golf simulation room, then went hot tubbing. It was a really fun night and i can't believe i didn't take any pictures!
Saturday night we celebrated Lindsay's birthday with her! We all had dinner at Pizza Factory and then cake and games at their house. I'm so glad Lindsay has been my classmate, roomate, gym-mate, neighbor, and most of all friend! for the last few years. Love you Linds!
Sunday we went to church and then to the Draper Temple Dedication broadcast at our stake center. It was a really great experience. I absolutely love going to the temple and i'm super excited to have another one close by.

scuba certified

I am officially scuba certified! We passed! We finished our last open water dive at The Crater in Midway this morning, diving down to 65 feet in the incredible 92 degree water (i think i'm too spoiled now after swimming in that im going to always want to scuba in water that warm! But... i guess ill trade a little bit cooler water with actually being able to see more than 10 feet in front of me!) Underwater world here I come!

Of course we needed a quick stop at Dairy Keen on Tuesday after our dive

Marathon Day 3.14

Ok, so there wasn't literally a marathon involved. But, i felt like we were just going going all day. Anways, we had an awesome weekend.
Friday we went to dinner with Jason and Lindsay and then caught the last few minutes of the BYU Baseball game with Whitney and Morgan. Then watched a movie at our house.
Saturday
8:00 wake up to get ready for the Rex Lee Run!
9:00 the 10k runners start! (This included Melissa's parents and Whitney)
9:15 the 5k runners start! (This included me, Paul, Jeff, Melissa, Jan and Morgan)
I cannot beleive i finished the 5k! This was my first time ever to run for this long (not including on a treadmill) I was super nervous because i am not a good runner and i didn't get to train at all. But, i had my i pod and set my own pace and i had the goal to not stop jogging. I did end up walking about 40 yards of it but other than that i jogged the whole time! My overall time was 33:14 and Paul's time was 25:15.
*Pictures to come, they are on Melissa's camera.
11:00 Breakfast at Magelby's Fresh.... DELICIOUS French toast and syrup! Probably ate back
all the calories i burned running but oh so worth it!
12:00 Hot tubbing and stream room at 24 hour fitness with Whitney and Morgan... did wonders
for the sore muscles.
2:40 necessary stop at Sub zero for some low fat pina colada with peaches and blackberries
mixed in.
2:50 dollar movie - "Bride Wars" i loved it!
6:00 Rumbi Island Grill with Chelsea and Tyler, Jason and Lindsay and Morgan and Whitney
and Jeff (melissa is out of town) Then off to the Flash game! We had a really fun time. We had never been to a game before and Chelsea got some really great seats on the 3rd row because she works for the team doctor. The Flash is the minor league NBS team here, they feed mostly into the Jazz and the Celtics. Some of the players were huge! It was a really good game: the Flash won, Tyler got called down on the floor for a time out contest, and Paul caught 3 free t-shirts.

learning to breathe...under water

For Christmas Paul and I got money to get scuba certified so we've been taking our lessons and this week we had our fist pool dives. This was our first time to be in the water with our scuba gear actually scuba-ing! It was a little scary! I had one freak-out moment when i was supposed to drop my breathing regulator then find it again and clear all the water out and put it back to breathe from... i found my regulator ok but then when i cleared it sent bubbles everywhere and totally filled up my mask with water so i couldn't see and i was afraid i was going to start sucking up water. Luckily, we were sitting in like 4 foot deep water so i just popped up and got re-situated. After that i started getting more used to breathing and clearing my mask and things came together. It's just weird to actually have to remind yourself to inhale and exhale. I think all in all im just more of a land-above-the-water-breathing-normal-air type person, but I do think it will be way fun when we actually get to go somewhere and see things and enjoy our time underwater. I'm sure i'll really enjoy seeing the fishes and everything instead of the sides of a pool.

propose to one, in love with the other

ok, so a few words about the finale. I said i was ok with Jason picking either one, i did NOT say i was ok with him picking one and then switching!! What the heck? It was all very bizarre and lame. I was in shock but
#1 somewhat rethinking my "jason is a really good guy" statement, and i also think that he cries way too much.. get a hold of yourself.
#2 still like Melissa and maybe even more so for taking it like a champ
and #3 think it was a little hasty of Molly to be so ready to "see how things go" about .5 seconds after he had just dumped his fiancee of 2 months. RED FLAG.
After the whole thing Paul turned to me and said "So who won?" good question.

my best friend is getting married.

ok so as exciting as The Bachelor season finale seemed, my excited was eclipsed Sunday night when i found out that my best friend (besides Paul) was getting engaged!! Whitney Lemmon and Morgan Taylor got engaged March 1st and they are to be married in July! YAY!! I could not be more excited for both of them. I honestly cannot wait for them to get married and i am so happy that they found each other. They are an awesome couple and they really bring out the best in each other and i can't wait to be married friends forever!!
the future Mr. and Mrs. Taylor!
besties for life
we made them a cake, it was lemon with lemon glaze so we very appropriately titled it "The last Lemmon cake"

so excited!!

Yes, we do watch 24 on monday nights. But perhaps even more exciting than watching Jack Bauer blow people up and "save" the nation, is the fact that tomorrow night is also THE BACHELOR season finale. Thank goodness for tevo, as we have been able to tape The Bachelor to watch it after 24 every week. I have loved this season (well lets face it i love every bachelor season) but i think Jason is a really good guy and i can't wait to see who he picks!! I like both girls but i feel like he is going to pick Melissa... she's a texas girl, can't go wrong. Molly is really cute too though so i will be happy either way. And then DeAnna coming back?! And a private after the final rose?! Jack will have to hurry up tomorrow night. (p.s. don't tell Paul, Morgan or Jeff about this post and that i'm not 100% dedicated to 24)

viva la weekend

Friday night we went to dinner at Olive Garden and by chance saw Tyler and Clancee there! So we ate with them which was really fun and then we went to go see "Confessions of a Shopaholic" with Jeff and Melissa. A gold star for Paul and Jeff for seeing the movie with us! It was a cute movie though and it made me laugh REALLY hard in a few spots.

Saturday we had a group date and made pizzas then played the board game of "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" Which i'm proud to report that for the most part we were all smarter than 5th graders. We each made it through the levels to our million dollar questions and were able to get the coveted box top picture.
(more pics on Melissa's blog!)

I'm loving my new calling in the Primary presidency! Today we took some pictures of the kids to get printed to make a little velcro board for when they come into primary they can put their picture up. We only had 4 kiddos there today but they LOVED having their picture taken, they just wanted me to keep taking them it was so cute. They are so fun and they really know about the church and about Jesus and God. It's so fun to see their little spirits shining through.
