a prized purchase

As part of the engagement and meeting of families, Stewart and Lorraine were able to come up for a few days! It was really fun to have them. We didn't give them much of a vacation as we were having them help with the engagement set up.. making meals... the boys refinished our table and chairs... haircuts and lots of other things but we had a great time with them.

On Monday, Lorraine and Grandma Gottfredson and I were able to do a little baby shopping! I have yet to meet a baby girl clothing item that i don't like. It could be a problem. But it's SO fun. We checked out a few different places in search of a crib and in the end I finally decided on one!

I am now the proud owner of this lovely item:
YAY!! We haven't set it up yet but I know I will love it! It's just really simple and pretty. THANKS LORRAINE!

engaged!

Mike and Jenna got engaged on Friday, March 26th! They will be married beginning of August and we couldn't be more excited! I do love a good wedding. It was fun to be able to help plan the engagement and celebrate with them afterward. Jenna is so friendly and sweet.. I can't wait to have her as another sister in law! So excited for you two!

lucky boy

As mentioned previously, Paul has been writing for the school newspaper as part of one of his classes, and covering all the basketball games this semester. So, when he found out BYU was going to OK City to play, the wheels started turning. At first BYU said they couldn't send him because it would be too expensive to fly down there, etc. Paul (of course) came up with a plan B: fly into Dallas, hang out with my parents a little, borrow one of their cars, and drive up for the games. Paul (of course) sold them on the idea and got to go! He was able to see BYU play both times, and also attend all the other games (including the bracket crusher Kansas vs. Northern Iowa). All from press row, right behind the bench. So Lucky. He had the time of his life. I missed him of course but at least I got to see him on TV. HAPPY MARCH MADNESS!

GET JUICED

Sunday night we had the official inauguration/juicing party for the "get juiced" aprons. Whitney made these aprons for the guys because they needed "a manly apron to wear while they were juicing". She did such a great job they turned out so awesome. The boys gave us a little fashion show and then made us some delicious fresh juices!

poor JZ

I need to do a little shout out for our dear friend Jordan. He and some friends were at the tumbling gym on Tuesday night. Jordan was doing a back flip on one of the tumbling track trampolines and came down wrong on his head and broke 2 vertebra in his neck! We met up with Mike and the others at the ER and tried to help him through the pain and all the news. He ended up having a pretty intense surgery the next day and is now luckily on his way to making a full recovery.

After what happened with Paul to his back (and his neck in high school) I have such compassion for these type of injuries-- so painful and such a PAIN to deal with... braces and devices and plates and screws and all. But we are so glad that it was not worse, like being paralyzed. Jordan is such a trooper, he's been making good progress in the hospital. He is honestly one of the sweetest boys I know, and such a loyal friend.
J Zamora our thoughts and prayers are with you. enjoy the green jello at the hospital.

today i'm 16 weeks

update:
-I have more energy now, and i'm a little sad because this means i should probably start working out so i don't get too fat.
-I'm obsessed with little girl things (understandably) and i told Paul it's all pink and tutus and bows and princesses and flowers from here... he took it well and was actually excited about it.
-Still emotional

(example: I was full-on bawling when Sandra Bullock won her Oscar. Then again, i'm not sure if this was really pregnancy related because i truly do love sandra and her performance in Blind Side.)

-Most people have a surprised/questioning expression when i tell them im pregnant, and especially when i'm already far enough along to know that i'm having a girl. Oh yah.. maybe it's because i don't look pregnant at all. But that's ok, no rush. My huge days will come.
-Don't worry i've already made about 6 flower clips. My baby may be naked but at least she will have cute flowers in her hair (HOPEFULLY she will have hair!!)

Disclaimer: The tummy pictures are mostly for christine because she asks for them everyday... eventhough she is still unimpressed.

We got our first ultrasound done on Saturday night and they were pretty confident that we are having a girl! It was so amazing to see our little baby moving around and wiggling and sucking her thumb inside me! It was so awesome i loved it!! And we are SO excited to have a sassy little girl. She is going to have her daddy wrapped around her little finger (and probably her mom too).

fantastic find

Last night, Paul and Jordan Z. and I were hanging out at home. We decided to have a relaxing night and catch up on some DVR and watch a movie. I wanted to rent one, and i also wanted to make a pasta salad (random i know. i'm pregnant.) So i sent the boys to the store and Blockbuster. They came home with a special treat:
Shasta soda! I've had Shasta before, but the greatest part of this was that they bought it at Fresh Market (formerly known as Albertson's) at the vending machine for 35 cents!! What a steal! We were so happy with our find that we made Mike and Jenna go get us some for round two. I had strawberry kiwi and orange which were delicious. They have a plethora of flavors. We had such an enjoyable evening watching movies and drinking our "shasts" as Paul called them.

p.s. i actually have always loved the name Shasta and if we ever get a pet i'm naming it that. the kids have no say. and i don't care if its a boy.

today i'm 14 weeks.

Here's my pregnancy update, 3.5 months into it:
-i feel like i'm pretty much past the morning sickness, but i still get weird tummy aches and cramps sometimes. I figure this will remain pretty constant.
-I also still get pretty tired but i feel like my energy in the morning is picking up.
-still have food cravings, although i'm getting better-- food doesn't sound so disgusting but i still like what i like. Which right now is lucky charms and cranberry juice. All the time.

SIDE NOTE: last Saturday we were at Walmart (mistake #1 going on walmart on a busy saturday) so anyways i was VERY emotional that day and we were looking for lucky charms because i NEEDED them. couldn't find them on the cereal aisle. I was totally freaking out. "What kind of store doesn't have Lucky Charms?!?! This is ridiculous!!" Paul had to pull me aside and nicely told me i was making a scene. We then turned around and found the Lucky Charms which i had walked right past.

-in the morning i don't even look pregnant, but by the end of the day: i'm poochin'. It gets bigger and bigger throughout the day. However, i still don't really look pregnant.
Here's what i have to show for myself at night (i know i look disgusting, and paul said i was trying to look big, so take it for what it's worth):
-my book says our baby is the size of a peach! That's not bad!
-I still have no idea if it's a boy or a girl. Everyday i change how i feel about it. Paul's been thinking lately it might be a girl (that's a big step for him to admit) so it will really be a surprise either way when we find out!
