the time has come...

floating in ice

Paul and I have a "bucket list" so to speak of things we want to do before we are done with our Provo college experience. One item was floating the Provo Canyon River. Which we checked off our list on Saturday! It was SO fun! We started all the way at the top and floated the 5 miles down through the river. Some areas had some waves and more of a current than others but one thing was constant the whole time: the water was freezing! After awhile though your bum sticking out of the tube just goes numb and it's a little more enjoyable. When I first stepped into the water in my shorts, tank top and swimsuit I really wasn't sure if I would make it in the cold. We did learn some lessons: I am a "spastic tuber" according to Paul (not smooth at all like him), paddling the wrong direction will indeed take you in the wrong direction, and wear water shoes! After a few falls/almost drownings for both of us, some broken tree branches, a lost tank top (mine), and lost-and-refound flip flops we successfully floated and actually had a great time doing it.

I can't believe i'm blogging about Star Trek... but i really am! We were very skeptical to say the least but we went on Friday night to see Star Trek at the dollar movie and were VERY pleasantly surprised! I really liked it! I was entertained the whole time and i didn't think it was overly cheesy and it had some funny parts and lines and i thought they did a great job casting it. This was also blog-worthy because i feel like so oftenwe go into see a movie having really high expectations and are a little dissapointed but this time it was the opposite! which was nice for a change. So, Star Trek, you rock... "live long and prosper".

-Went to the Oquirrh Mountain temple dedication... awesome.-Went up to Clay's family cabin in Midway. We ate some really good burgers, went for a "wild ride" and carved our names in a tree. Then we relaxed at the house and watched TV and ate dessert.

After 12 days and 11 nights apart,
(which is entirely too many)
and one delayed flight,
the hubs is back!
With stories to tell,
and adventures under his belt.
And I'm VERY happy to have him.

totally blog-worthy

Ok here comes my shameless plug for the Gatehouse: I custom ordered a new desk chair and just got it not too long ago and i LOVE it! It turned out so cute! It's so incredibly comfortable, especially considering it's a desk chair and it looks so cute in our room! Now that i finally have my camera back i can post a picture:Speaking of.. i realized i never posted about our "new" rooms. We decided to paint our bedroom and our office (don't tell the land lady!).
The office is a tan color called "Wooden Spoon" (compliments of Martha Stewart) it's a really nice neutral. This picture is obviously pre-bear, as it is now hanging on this wall. But at one point it was a nice simplified wall. Our bedroom turned out a little bright, but we did want an aqua blue. I like to say that I feel like I live in a Tiffany's box (hey, it could be worse).

I don't know if it was looking at all the high school pics,
my recent boredom,
the already fall-feeling weather,
my lame look i had going on,
probably my recent boredom.
Regardless.
I decided to dye my hair.
Hope Paul likes it.

"it was the best of times, it was the worst of times"

I recently found a bunch of CD's with pictures from high school and I thought some of the pictures were so funny/embarassing. When I was telling Christine this she said she sees high school pictures and thinks either "What was i thinking?" or "What happened to me?" haha I feel the exact same way. Anyways, i couldn't help but share a few.first day of school my sophomore year: we ended up starting school like 3 weeks late because the teachers were on strike! You'd think it would be awesome but in some ways it was annoying because everyday you just had to wait to see if you were going to start school! We practiced our first day pep rally routine EVERY DAY over and over again. I started school in Seattle then moved to Texas halfway through the year. Me and Janelle at Cracker Barrel. Yes i am wearing "Mr. Bubbles" pajama pants (?!?!?!)First Day of School my Junior year. Look how little Cassie looks! I remember i loved that top because it had sequins on it. oh geez.Powderpuff football was really fun.Prom my junior year. I went with this guy that asked me like 2 weeks before and i barely knew him. It was super awkward. But my mom made my dress and i loved it.I was on CREW my senior year. It was only 5 senior guys and 5 senior girls. You have to try out to be on it and then we cheered for (mostly football) sports and did funny skits at all the pep rallies. We also did push-ups for however many points we scored in the football games (that got to be quite the workout). It was for sure the funnest thing i was a part of in highschool. My best friends: Brittany and Leah (a.k.a BeeJ and my little peach)This was my favorite skit we did: we all dressed like zombie school members (i was the zombie drill team girl) and we all did the dance to "Thriller". It was awesome.I was in PALS ("peer assisted leadership skills") My junior and senior year and i LOVED getting to go to different schools and play with the kids. The little boy sitting next to me in the blue shirt even invited me to his birthday party and i totally went. Prom My senior year was way better. I went with my really good friend Robby and all our friends in a group. Robby asked me by baking a cake like in Napoleon dynamite and leaving it on my desk, with the little note and everything. i dunno i just think this is a funny picture.
So anyways, that's my high school reminiscing. There were way more pictures but then i realized how boring this probably is so i'll just call it good.

I tag Melissa, Christine, Leigh and Whitney to post at least one high school picture and talk about it!

Happy 29th Anniversary to My Parents

Thank you for your wonderful example and for all of your love and support.
And, thank you for getting married!

congrats whitney!

I was able to attend Whitney's graduation from the BYU college of nursing. It was a nice small ceremony and lots of fun to see one of my best friends graduate! It's so crazy to me that we are all getting this old and moving on from our college lives.. other than our husbands of course. Anyways congrats whit! Whitney was and still is a fantastic example of a dedicated student, she's so smart and amazing.seems like it was just yesterday that we were at my high school graduation before our whole college adventure started.

ROY G. BIV

I saw the coolest thing today! It had been raining and as i was driving home, i saw a double rainbow! One was the most vibrant rainbow i've ever seen and the other one curving over it was more faded. The coolest thing though was that i could see the beginning and the end of the rainbow, i could see the whole arc. I've never seen that! One end is always so far off. I felt like i was so close to it! Should've looked for the pot of gold...

Saw this movie today with Whitney. I really liked it! I thought it was super cute and charming and even a little inspiring.

"Can you handle the Sandall?"

Heather and Kevin Sandall visited this weekend! It was so fun to have them. They came Thursday night and we hung out, talked, laughed, went to J Dawgs, walked around BYU and remembered a lot of fun times. On Saturday morning Heather ran in the Provo Canyon half marathon. We went and watched her finish up her race and she was awesome! She ran the whole time and never walked. It was fun to see her accomplish that goal.

Africa

Paul is going to Africa! He has the amazing opportunity to travel to Ghana as a contributing member of the African Equity Fund and with the Forever Young Foundation to do humanitarian work over there for about 10 days.Ever since Paul served his LDS mission in Ghana and other parts of West Africa he has wanted to go back. He grew to genuinely love the people and culture more than i can even explain. He wants to continue doing good and blessing people's lives. I only wish I could go with him! But I'm so excited for him to have this experience and I know he will really be a blessing and make an impact on people's lives forever.

SYTYCD Finale

I thought the finale was good! I was amazed there were only 3500 people there because it looked like way more. I liked the dances the judges picked to see again. I thought it would be between Brandon and Jeanine and I was happy with either one winning. Overall, I think I liked last season a little better than this season but I am way excited for this fall! So glad I don't have to wait a year!

feeling a loss

Dear Sony:
I miss my camera.
Please repair it quickly so i can re-instate all my picture taking! I feel a void in my purse where my camera should be and i dread the thought that there might be a kodak moment left behind. Come back to me soon camera!

Thank you.
