July ends

The house and nesting projects continue: Along with moving Caitlin upstairs, Nolan is now in his big boy bed! The transition went really well (WAY more smoothly than for Caitlin). I think probably because he had already been getting in and out anyways so this made it easier and also he had seen Caitlin in her big bed so he was used to the idea. Although when we started taking apart his crib and moving things around he got really sad. But when he saw his bed he was excited and he hopped right in and has wanted to show everyone his room ever since.
We took all the kids to see the new Disney Planes movie the day it came out. Cason is obsessed with Dusty the plane and he was really looking forward to it. It was a cute movie that we all enjoyed.
Other fun outings with friends: more splash pad, the dinosaur museum, the aquarium.

Paul hiked the Grand Teton with Mike, Chris and Steve and now considers it one of his biggest accomplishments. they had all underestimated the difficulty of the hike which made the rest of us even more grateful to get them home safe! There was a lot of hard hiking, mountain climbing, free climbing, wind and altitude sickness involved. They took the "Upper Exum" route which was the hardest one. The hiked to base camp day 1 (Paul with a 64 pound pack) then summited day 2 and back down to base camp. Then hiked the rest of the way down on the morning of Day 3. They had lots of amazing stories to tell and the scenery was simply breath taking. So proud of them.
While they were hiking we had a Girl's night to the Bluebird concert, which I already mentioned in a previous post. But it was a really fun night, we went to dinner then up to the concert with Christine and Amy and Heidi, two friends from my neighborhood and had a great time!

Pioneer Day: after living in Utah for 7 years, I still don't know what we are supposed to do on pioneer day. So, we took the kids to the splash pad and had a BBQ that night with a few friends. Not to say that I don't love and admire the pioneers, but I'll choose to show it in different ways.

Caitlin has been going to "Summer Club" once a week at our neighbor's house the past couple months. Their theme this summer was a Trip around the World so every week they would learn about a different country. She loved going to it with her friends and making the little crafts and learning about new places each week. Her favorite place she still talks about is "HUwaii" (don't blame her). She had her last one the last week of July.
