Provo is famous. College Gameday came! (unfortunately the game was not a proud moment for us, but let's not dwell on the negative) Paul decided to be a part of it all so he went and put our tent out on Friday afternoon. We went to the parking lot late Friday night and hung out for a little bit then all the boys decided to spend the night so they could be sure to get a wristband to get into "the pit" (the groups of 400 people right behind the announcers). Not only did they secure wristbands, they got on the front row of the pit and Paul made his appearance on TV a few times.. i'm so proud.

weekend getaway
We took a little weekend getaway to Dallas with Chelsea and Tyler and it was so much fun! We definitely had a few things to accomplish down there:
#1 Get some Texas BBQ! The first night we went to Spring Creek and it was delicious as usual.
#2 High School Football! My little sister Cassie is on the Carroll Crew (pep squad/yell leaders/game entertainment/do push-ups for every touchdown). So we first went to her pep rally in the morning to see their skit and then that night we tail-gated and then went to the game! We (of course) won, and even got a little appearance from Tony Romo who decided to come to the game! They get a lot of Cowboys players who live in the area who like to just come and watch. Although we did catch Tony getting a news broadcasters number while he was at it.. we thought it was pretty funny.
#3 Family pictures! This was our first chance to all be together for a picture since Chelsea and Tyler's wedding! Our holiday visits haven't quite been matching up so we were finally able to go to the studio where Cassie took her senior pictures and they did a great job (at least i think they did.. i haven't seen any of the pics but it was feelin' good).
#4 Six Flags! After pictures and mexican food dinner, we made it over to Six flags "Fright Fest". The park stays open til 10 PM which is a good thing because it was pretty packed. We made it on as many rides as we could.. just went for the biggest ones.. and a few of us found out the Mexican food may not have been a wise choice for our pre-amusement park meal.
It was a jam-packed and great weekend. Home visits always go by way too fast, but I definitely don't take them for granted this way!

happy haunting
Here's some pictures of my Halloween decorations. I realized after I loaded them on my computer that they actually look a lot better in person. Probably due to my sub-par photography skills. But, nonetheless, I do love decorating for ANY holiday and I'm super excited for Halloween!

the mighty hunters
Jeff came up to visit for a few days and he and Paul, and a couple others went up hunting. They were hunting elk and Paul was successful! He shot an elk and we will now have another well stocked freezer. It was a really hard-core hunt out of Immigration Canyon. I went and picked them up on Thursday night and I was scared just being up there in the mountains in my warm car! They carried packs that weighed about 100 lbs. and camped overnight and everything. When I picked them up I found two very hungry, cold and exhausted boys. But I think they still had fun. If anyone needs jerky let us know!
Here they are weighing their packs when they got home.
we also acquired this little beauty in the process... an extra freezer for all the meat. oh joy.

my husband is a winner
A few weeks ago, Paul and Taylor decided to enter their company into the BYU Student Entrepreneur of the Year contest. The day before we left for Texas we found out they had made it to the top 3 finalists! While we were in Texas, Taylor had to fly solo and present to the judges and then we received the news: THEY WON! Paul and Taylor (and Meter Solutions of course) are the student entrepreneurs of the year! They will win some prize money and the chance to network and grow their company. They will also most likely go on to the state-wide competition.
I could not be prouder of my hubby. He is such a good business man and really deserved the recognition for always working so hard full time and being so dedicated to his company, and dealing with it all through school. GOOD JOB PAUL!

a little texas time
We were so excited to be able to spend a few days in Texas with Mike and the Dicksons. As always, it went by way too fast. Mike got home - we got cool souvenirs from Taiwan - Mike started getting adjusted back to "normal" life - took family pictures - went to the San Antonio temple - celebrated Stewart's 50th birthday - made cupcakes - celebrated Paul's victory (more about that later) - went boating - girl talked - ate a lot of good food- watched conference - haircut and color from Christine - we had a ton of fun. Clearly, I had to take a ton of pictures.
Returned with Honor
Elder Michael Dickson returned from the Taiwan, Taipei mission on September 29th around 11:30 PM
And we couldn't be happier to have him.
