April 1: Caitlin's preschool class took a field trip to a local grocery store. They go to inside the big freezer and fridge, see the bakery, take a tour and even got ice cream at the end. She came home with a little goodie bag and was so excited about it. Caitlin LOVES school.
The kids have been going strong with swim lessons. I've stockpiled most their lessons this month so we will be ready for the Mexico trip and it is starting to pay off. They are less hesitant and getting more and more comfortable swimming and I'm seeing lots of improvement! I'm very proud of them. It's been interesting weather this month and we've definitely been glad for an indoor pool as we've got to swim lessons in the rain and even snow! Also still doing gymnastics and loving it!
April 6-10 was spring break and having just one in preschool means that Spring break still doesn't mean a lot to us but since we had a week without school I decided to make the most of having more free time and we did some fun things!
Wednesday -swim lessons, I got my hair done (went blonder for summer) then Paul and I had a date night
Friday- Swim lessons, visited the Bean museum, went to Chick Fil A, then had dinner out with dad
April 11: We went to the "Little Sahara" sand dunes with the Barnes and some of their family and friends. We brought our RZR and they brought theirs and some 4 wheelers. It was such a blast! The weather was great and we picked a spot and set up the trailers and tables and chairs then just went out in turns to ride around in the dunes. We had lunch and the kids played in the sand. Maverick loved the RZR and on the last ride all 3 kids fell asleep. It was so fun to try a new terrain in the RZR and so different driving in the sand than in the mountains or rocks of Moab like we are used to! It was a great day!
...until the next day when we found out Paul broke his wrist. The boys had gone on a ride together and Paul was riding an extra four wheeler. They were jumping them and he had gone on a jump and landed a little slanted. The landing ejected him from the 4 wheeler and he had come down on his wrist. As soon as he got back he said it was hurting but had carried on through the day. On Sunday it was still hurting and he realized he may have broken it. Sure enough we went into the instacare and had a broken scaphoid. Couple days in a splint then an MRI to diagnose 4-6 weeks in a wrist brace. (Phew! Could have been way worse!)
April 14: Caitlin's new favorite day: "Bring your Daddy to dance class day" The daddies got to come and learn a choreographed dance with their girls and then perform it. They stretched and made up tricks and then did free dancing at the end. Caitlin had been looking forward to this day and she was SO excited. She was pretty concerned when she saw Paul's splint that he wouldn't be able to dance but Paul made sure he didn't disappoint. He said Caitlin was very serious about learning the dance and at one point even critiqued him on what he was doing wrong. For their performance at the end they danced to "Brown Eyed Girl" and it was adorable and spot on and Caitlin was absolutely beaming the entire time. She is so proud of her dad and I'm so proud that her dad makes time for her and makes sure to be at these things that are so important to her.
April 17: Went to the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival with Christine and her kids. It was beautiful! We packed a picnic and roamed around the gardens and it was great. We even saw an owl that had made it's next by the waterfall. I love this tulip tradition I have with the kids.
