i am that person...

Yesterday... while i was driving... i hit 2 huge barrel cones. NOT on purpose, i was trying to merge during construction on the I-80 and obviously that didn't go too well. I AM THAT PERSON THAT KNOCKS DOWN THE CONES! So embarrassing. Luckily there was not really any damage done to the vehicle.. the cones i didn't check.

happy 22!

My birthday was so fun!
We got up and got ready then i got to open some of my presents!
My biggest present was a combination graduation/birthday gift. i got.... an iMac!!! It's the 24" screen desktop and i absolutely LOVE it. I've never been so obsessed with computer stuff. I opened the computer and printer and right after we all went upstairs and set it up on our desk and proceeded to watch animal planet and look at all the features and the amazing picture! yay! i love it!
After that me, paul, my parents, Lorraine, Jeff and Melissa went to breakfast at The Original Pancake House in Sugar House (Salt Lake). It is a DELICIOUS place and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.
Then sadly we took my parents to the airport. Then i went to Whitney's bridal shower! After that Paul and Lorraine took me shopping at the mall and i got some new shirts.

Then we came back home to play more on my new computer!

Then we went to dinner at Macaroni Grill! my favorite! Complete with chocolate cake and serenading from the waiter.
Thank you everyone for all the birthday greetings, phone calls, texts, my presents, and for making my birthday so fun!

a bunch of pomp and circumstance

It's officially over! I participated in commencement and walked in my college graduation. I'm a college grad, with my Degree in Home and Family Living (emphasis on Interior Design) and a minor in Spanish. Since i've been finished with classes since December i didn't think it would really make that big of a difference but it did! I felt like i had really accomplished something and i was really proud of myself, i got some closure in my cap and gown. It was also really fun to do everything with Jeff and Jan. These past 4 years went by way too fast. I'm really going to miss college and being a BYU student, but I love being a BYU ALUM!

a BIG week

This past week was awesome and also super eventful. Monday and Tuesday I worked
(not so eventful).
Then on Wednesday Paul's parents and my parents got into town! It was a beautiful day.. i guess all the Texas people brought their good weather up with them!
We ran some errands and Paul's dad insisted on riding the scooter everywhere. It was really funny, i felt like it was such a role reversal.. kids in the car, parents on the scoot.
Thursday was Graduation Day 1 with the big convocation with Pres. Uchdorf and Elder Nelson as speakers then a big dinner at Magelby's that night with immediate family.
Friday was Graduation Day 2 with our individual college graduations where we walked and got our diplomas. Then that night we had a big BBQ with family and friends which was way fun.
Saturday was my birthday! It was a really great day.. i think 22 is going to be an incredible year.

Happy Birthday Cassie!

My little sister turns 17 today. Cassie is honestly one of the most amazing people I know. She is so beautiful and smart and kind and just fun to be around. She is always looking out for others and wants to make other people happy. I am so lucky to have her as a sister and i miss her so much! AND (sorry i just have to brag!) she just got a 35 on her ACT! She's genius! Cassie I hope you had a fantastic birthday and that your 17th year is full of fun new things.

We had a great Easter...
the fruits of our labor from Saturday night,Sunday morning: easter basket hunt (Paul gave me these flowers), then we went to church, dinner at our house with friends and family, and of course some bunny cake.

4.12.2009

As fun as the eggs, the easter bunny and easter baskets are, I am truly grateful for the real reason that we celebrate Easter. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father loves us enough to send his son Jesus Christ to sacrifice himself to atone for our sins. As an imperfect person, I appreciate and rely on his sacrifice everyday. I am even more grateful that after three days Jesus was resurrected and that he lives and that we can have the chance to live again with our Heavenly Father. One day is certainly not enough to reflect on the magnitude of this blessing, but I hope that everday I can realize what Christ did for me and remember that I want to live for him because he died for me.

ready for the bunny!

This morning we had our primary Easter Activity. The kids got bunny ears, had an egg hunt, sang songs, had a little lesson and decorated sugar cookies. It was really cute and i think the kids had a good time. I was surprised how good they were at finding the eggs, granted they weren't really hidden but i was impressed that they knew just what to do: grab their basket, get the eggs and put them inside. Some (more advanced) were even shaking them to make sure there was candy inside and get the ones that weighed the most. I love easter egg hunts and dyeing eggs and everything fun that comes along with the true Easter celebration! We will be dyeing eggs tonight.
I hope the Easter bunny finds you all for tomorrow!

happy belated

I realized i never got to blog about my dad's birthday. It was April 3rd. My dad is an amazing man and i am so grateful for him. He works so hard for the family and i know he loves us more than anything. He is always good for a smile and a laugh or a hug when you are having a hard day. Some of my favorite things about my dad are that you can make him laugh really hard and loud and he is so outgoing and can talk to anyone. Happy Birthday Daddy!

you know you are a housewife when..

...when you blog about a new vacuum.
Just hear me out. On Saturday, Paul and I made a trip to Bed Bath & Beyond (this is a shameless plug for Bed Bath & Beyond: they have really great customer service). We had a problem with our vacuum that we got when we got married. I think the motor was running out and the belt stopped turning so it was no longer sucking anything up and it left a stinky burning smell whenever we used it. Honestly, i really like vacuuming. I don't know why but out of all the chores, i do enjoy vacuuming. So it was sad for me to not have a functioning vacuum. We took it back, no questions asked and they gave us credit for a new one. Instead of going back to the old un-faithful we decided to upgrade. We got a Dyson vacuum (for about 50% off too!) and it is AMAZING. I absolutely love it. I'm back to vacuuming all the time. It's just so easy and so nice and it's like we have new carpet, it cleans so well. The ball lets you roll all over and get everywhere, just like the commercials. Anyways, i love it (obviously because i'm blogging about it). So if anyone wants to come vacuum, be my guest. It's really that great.

out with the old.. in with the new

Paul and I got new car insurance and as part of the process we had to Utah licenses. It was kinda sad! I now have Utah plates and license so i feel my car has lost all of Texas! I'm keeping my license as a souvenir.
So, when we went to the Driver's License Division we had to take a written driving test to switch state licenses. The test was 25 questions and you take it on a computer and it's open book. So they gave us the little packets and Paul was talking all this smack saying he's gotta beat me on the test. A few minutes later Paul asks me from his cubicle which question i'm on. I respond "number 17, you?" He responds. "umm 3." Needless to say i got done before him and i also scored a 100%. A little while later, Paul finished with an 80%.... which is the minimum you have to get to pass! O dear.. although honestly Paul is a much better driver than me, but at least i earned some bragging rights for a little while!
